Zohran Mamdani, your new mayor-elect, promises equity and justice through the levers of state power, but I warn you, Solzhenitsyn warned us: such promises are the velvet glove over the iron fist of collectivism.     Solzhenitsyn spent his life under a communist regime, and he tells you plainly: a society without an objective legal scale is terrible, but one enthralled by the illusions of socialism is far worse—it hypnotizes you, preventing you from seeing the mortal danger ahead.  For him in Russia, communism became a dead dog, its horrors laid bare in the gulags where millions perished for the sake of ideological purity.
